detail: the flowers

I am so thankful for my sister-in-law, Heather. She made all the bouquets, arrangements, and corsages for the ceremony and reception. I was in charge of boutonnieres, but of course my whole family (and sara) helped cut / glue / clean all the elements. I will post the professional pictures when they arrive, so the finished pieces can be seen in action!

billy balls, daises, freesia, yellow tiny roses, curly willow, tiny branches, guinea feathers

boutonniere ribbon: satin striped (brown)
my bouquet ribbon: martha stewart woodgrain velvet ribbon

detail: the cakes

I couldn't wait to post the cakes!!! I am obsessed with how great they turned out. They surpassed my expectation one hundred times over. The ladies from Sweet Tempered Bakery are the best!

The wedding cake:

  • Inspiration: found in the post here
  • Flavor: Rose-water vanilla with orange and lemon curd filling (alternating tiers), American buttercream frosting and fondant outer layer
  • Embellishments: Mushroom owls (I painted their faces to match the color scheme)
  • Branches: harvested locally by the bakers

  • The groom's cake:

  • Flavor: chocolate devils food with American buttercream frosting
  • Feathers: rice paper, beak and talons: caramel, eyes: gummy candies

  • Details:

    Cakes: Sweet Tempered (Austin, TX)
Photography: Whitney Lee Photography (Austin, TX)
Wooden cake Bases: My brother made the wooden cakes stands by hand (the wood is from his home in Berkeley, CA)

    photo booth: color

The photo booth was so incredibly fun and I am so glad we decided to splurge. Here are some of our favorite color images. It was tough to edit, as there were hundreds of strips to choose from!

    detail: napkin rings

Using this tutorial, I made 80 tissue paper napkin rings in bright yellow. My family helped me puff them up a few months back and the night before the big day, my girlfriends applied them to all the napkins. I had the best crew of busy bees *

    The Wedding

    Hi all,

The wedding was last Saturday and I must say that it went better than I would have ever imagined. All the details fell into place and we had the BEST time ever. Thanks to everyone for their hard work and support during the trip. We couldn't have done it without you.

Over the next few days I will be posting all the details of the weekend, wedding, and honeymoon.

For now, here is my favorite picture received so far...
